· Secret is a brand that encourages women to live fearlessly, which is why four years ago Secret created the Mean Stinks program to educate and empower girls to live their lives fearlessly by taking a stand against mean behavior. This year, Secret Mean Stinks evolved the program to continue to educate, empower and inspire girls to take the reins, because for the past four years Secret has heard girls loud and clear: “It’s up to us to join Mean Stinks’ movement to bring an end to girl-to-girl bullying” – And that’s just what they did this year.
· This year’s second annual Mean Stinks Nicest School in America competition asked schools around the country to share the ways they were standing up against mean behavior by creating a culture of nice within their hallways. The submissions flooded in from videos and pictures to messages, all created by students showing how they owned the movement to bring an end to mean!
· Waynesville High School was selected as one of two winners for this year’s Nicest School in America award, alongside Buena Park High School in Buena Park, California, because of their students who went above and beyond to infuse the Mean Stinks spirit into their halls throughout the year. Waynesville High School created a website to document all of their Mean Stinks efforts, which included sporting blue at a Mean Stinks football game where they sold “Gang Up For Good” bracelets, creating walls of nice with inspiration and bullying advice, painting their pinkies blue to take the Secret Mean Stinks blue pinky swear against bullying and welcoming Mean Stinks’ Nicest. Tour. Ever. anti-bullying assembly, hosted by anti-bullying advocate Keenan West, into their school.
